‘Natural Selection’, an exhibition commissioned by Artangel and now touring the UK, will be hosted by Hospitalfield, Arbroath this spring. Andy Holden is a contemporary artist and musician, he works with animation, sound, film and sculpture, found objects, printmaking and live performance. Natural Selection marks the culmination of a five-year collaboration between artist Andy Holden and his father.

Installed in the Arbroath Courthouse Building in the High Street, the show is accompanied by a series of events, including poetry workshops led by Lesley Harrison, for adults and children.

The art work delves into the history of egg-collecting, from scientific pursuit to competitive and eccentric pastime which became illegal after the 1954 Protection of Birds Act.  Using objects, text and ideas from the exhibition, the poetry workshops will concentrate on themes of home and landscape.
